NP: Open Book - Cake

This day has already been too long, and I was asleep for ten hours of it.

It started, as all days do, at 12:00 AM this morning. I was playing EverQuest and Ben Runescape at the kitchen table when he decided to retire. As he walked out of the room, I picked up my (empty) airsoft pistol and shot it at him. Unfortunately, the gun was directly over my laptop's keyboard, and my pulling the trigger also released the clip. The clip, obliged to obey gravity directly, smashed my keyboard, effectively popping off the 2, 3, and F3 keys. I'm now forced to push odd-looking rubber knobs whenever I wish to tell cyberspace the fourth and fifth numbers in the Fibonacci sequence. But it gets better.

As I said, I was asleep for ten hours today. Ordinarily not a problem, but I didn't retire until 2:30. Ergo, I woke at 12:30. An alarming situation for one having a midterm at 1:10 and a 20-minute drive between himself and campus. Needless to say, I wasn't in the best frame of mind when I arrived at my midterm, but it proved easy, so my shattered thoughts shouldn't affect my grade too much.

I finished the test at 1:40, so I opted for a run home to get a quick shower. This was accomplished with no additional headache, but upon my return to campus, I pulled into a metered space and, in keeping with the previous 14 hours, forgot to put money in the meter. I realized this after the ten-minute walk to campus and the purchase of a blueberry smoothie (my only source of calories so far). Thus, I was forced to make an additional trip to my car to satiate the parking Nazis prowling campus.

The day isn't over yet, either. I have another midterm at 4, but it's Intro to Theatre, so essentially a no-brainer. Then to Big City with Josh, which will be good, and shotokan, which should also be good. I'm not getting decimated, just irritated. No gaping wounds, just a series of small, stinging papercuts. The weather is cold and windy, too.

Two more days....two more days....

NP: Of the Room - Dredg

I finally have some good news to report: My poems "Aftermath," "Suzanne," and "Thimble" are to be published in Spiritus Mundi, the literary magazine of CSU's Honors program. It's not a Nobel, but at least somebody thinks my writing is worthwhile enough to publish, and there's always the possibility (however slim) that this will lead to greater things.

The good news continues: Fishooke was asked to play at the Fox in Boulder this Friday. Members of the band they're opening for were in the audience at Everyday Joe's this last weekend, and they liked what they heard. Dave's looking to have the CD finished by the show, so I'll finally get to have my very own Fishooke CD. Huttah!

I'm just a big glop of endorphins today. It's warm and sunny, I've only two midterms before spring break, 7.8 weeks left of the semester, Paris, the concert after Paris, the budding of the trees, the taste of spring, good music...I'm actually happy. Of course, because I said it, it's now jinxed, but shortlived though it might be, it's still nice.
