Highest Gander - Robert Wyatt
Nothing like a fall song to kick off the first day of fall. The appropriateness of my music choice has left me amazed.
School is becoming increasingly irritating. It usually gets that way when midterms begin rolling around. I have a Music Theory quiz tomorrow (or today, I suppose), an Asian Civ midterm Thursday, a Philosophy midterm Tuesday, and an Acting quiz in the undisclosed near future. My disillusionment meter is starting to turn yellow. To make my mood worse, I overslept today, giving myself 20 minutes to make a 15-minute drive and a 5-minute walk to class. This certainly doesn't indicate the commencement of an enjoyable day.
I've been a songwriting fool lately. I've already started on another and am nearly finished with the first verse. I think I've started getting a handle on this business of lyric writing. Next step: music to accompany the lyrics. Of course, if a certain band would give me an audition, I could lend my lyric-writing skills and vocal diversity to their already-impressive array of lyrics and music. Of course, the decision is entirely theirs. Do the right thing, guys.

careful now... you're beginning to yearn.
No, I just have passion. Fruit.
hi.
i mean this in the nicest way possible.
stop trying so hard. let your art happen instead of pushing it. don't say "commencement" when you mean "beginning". longer words aren't cooler.
the whole art and joy of words is communicating clearly. words aren't beautiful in and of themselves; thoughts are. its the thought that counts.
God knows that in writing this im the worst hypocrite ever. But its a principle ive come to believe in strongly. You have a lot to say, but it comes off sounding drippy most of the time. Beauty is in simplicity.
I dont mean to offend, only to help, and I'm sorry if I have. But I don't even know you. So its nothing personal.
I must respectfully disagree. I think words can be just as beautiful as ideas, and when the two work in harmony, true works of beauty are created. Some music groups (Joy Electric and Sigur Ros, for example) have been known to write seemingly "nonsensical" lyrics simply for the aesthetic pleasure of how they sound together.
Also, beauty doesn't lie solely in simplicity. Consider the works of Chopin, Beethoven, and Drake, or go outside and look at a sunflower. Complexity can bring an entirely new element to beauty.
Just so you know...that wasn't me.
I was hoping it was, so I could ask you what you meant by "drippy." Now I'll never know.
