Sanzen - Dredg

Entering Week the Second of this marvelous illness, I find myself growing more and more impatient with the tormentingly tangible advent of spring. Because after spring comes summer, and summer means a slackening in my schedule. It also means less likelihood of illness.

So somebody remind me why this college thing is worth it.

I finished Dark Tower III. I found it amusing he called the book The Wastelands though they didn't reach the Drawers until the final 20 pages or so. The illustrations were not nearly as good in this one. My personal favorite was the one of Roland firing his gun with nothing in the background but 80's dance club lights. I also find it interesting that King used all caps to denote Big Blaine's speech, even when the context said he was speaking with a soft, almost human quality. Of course, one can't expect too much from a degenerate supercomputer that enjoys making midgets hang each other.

midgets? what? as I recall, there was A midget. or "little person". Duke said that "midget" isn't PC anymore.

Of course, you did think that Oy was a worm thing at first. Perhaps this illness is making this series even more off-kilter than it would be under a regular mind-set.

I thought the Pubes were "little people." King called them dwarves.

well, maybe the "pubes" are dwarves, but they aren't all pubes. Gasher or whatever was just all sorts of jacked up, as well as the Tick Tock Man.

It was mostly just a bunch of whacked-out, messed up freakshows.

"Pubes" refers to the youths of the city I believe.

Or maybe not. Anyway, they're not dwarves.

I didn't think so. If they were, I completely missed it... 'cause I can't see Jake and Roland & Co. getting pushed around by a dwarf.

The pubes weren't the ones who captured Jake. They we're the ones killing each other.

The city of Lud was a war zone between the Greys, headed by Andrew Quick, and the Pubes, headed by Lord Person-face (whose name I have forgotten but who was a dwarf). After a brief rereading, I noted he seemed to be the only dwarf. Anyway, the Pubes were the ones Eddie and Susannah came across in the city's overworld.

I don't think the pubes had a lord. There was only a guy who was sort of a leader, but was hung by his compatriots. We never meet him though.

And the midget was just some random guy with a grenade.

Gah, I feel like I should be the expert on this, having read it first. It's been too long for me to accurately recall some of this... it's been what... 5 months since I read book 3?

(Beating dead horse) I still don't ever recall there being a group of dwarves... just the one random dude.

what a cool part of the story though. I really enjoyed it.

Yes Ryan, we have established that there is no group of dwarves
